"Did you honestly believe a fifth-dimensional sorcerer would resemble a funny little man in a derby hat?" from Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow.
The mischievous magical imp, Mr. Mxyzptlk - pronounced Mix-yez-pittle-ick, in case you were struggling, and that's according to my Ultimate Guide to The Man of Steel - hails from the Fifth-Dimension and visits Earth every ninety days to, well, annoy Superman. And when you've got almost limitless power, it's not such a difficult task.
We've seen Mxy warp Superman's body; animate the Daily Planet building; create red kryptonite for Lex Luthor; he's even handed over his powers to the Joker for a short period of time, and watched in horror as the psychotic clown decimated Earth. With Mxy, anything goes; the possibilities are endless. So what'll the Thoughtballooners come up with? Stayed tuned during the week - and as always, join in the fun!
Hmmm, I've never really liked infinitely powerful beings. If you could make anything happen, what motivation would you have to do so? It's the whole god thing really. If you're ultra powerful, why make those below you suffer?
ReplyDeleteSome people’s brains are just hardwired for malevolence, I think; power-level doesn’t really come into it. You and I, and the majority of people, might not even contemplate making those less -endowed than ourselves suffer ... but there’s always that small percentage who will, the kinds of people who pull wings off flies and seek the destruction of things that can’t protect themselves. It’s not like Mxyzptlk or Dominus (from my script) – are the only God-level powered beings in the universe; I think it stands to reason that they’d all have disparate personalities, just like we do, and some would therefore seek to maim and others would seek to defend.
