Gambit - Terrigenesis - Danial Carroll

PAGE ONE (seven panels)

PANEL 1. A shadowy figure is in the foreground, standing in the bushes, holding an M32 grenade launcher. In the background is a resort-like pool with various X-Men sitting around, just enjoying the sun on a rare break in action. The pool itself is empty, though Gambit is standing on the edge. He is wearing only swimming shorts.

GAMBIT:
What, no one want to join ol' Remy for a dip?

GAMBIT:
Très bien.

PANEL 2. A very wide view of the area showing Gambit diving into the water on one side, and a gas-grenade, trailing blue smoke, being launched from the bushes on the other.

SFX:
THOOMP

PANEL 3. Close-up on Gambit under the water, his eyes and mouth open wide as the gas-grenade, bubbling the blue smoke, sinks slowly down before him.

SFX:
SSSSSS

PANEL 4. Gambit has surfaced, the blue smoke swirling all around him.

GAMBIT:
What ->koff<- is dis?

PANEL 5. An aerial view of the pool area showing three more gas-grenades being fired amongst the panicking mutants.

SFX:
THOOMP

SFX:
THOOMP

PANEL 6. Close-up of Gambit, still in the pool. The gas has mostly dispersed, but now water around him is beginning to glow pink.

GAMBIT:
Ô merde.

PANEL 7. In the background, amongst the blue smoke, the various X-Men are having their powers go haywire (such as Cyclop's entire body blasting an energy beam and Iceman having formed into a large, crystalline ice-block). In the foreground, Gambit is jumping from the pool as the whole thing is blasting skyward with pink kinetic energy!

SFX:
CHOOM

  1. So this is like slashfic of what happens when mutants and inhumans get it on, right?

I like this script because it doesn't spell everything out for you, it just makes with the crazy and it can be sorted out later. Nice.

  2. Hmmm, you may have been reading a bit too much into things there lol

    Thanks though. I don't think I've done a thrown-in-the-middle type script before.

P.S. I probably should have included a reference link, but for anyone who doesn't know, when mutants are exposed to the Terrigen Mists, their powers get amped to the gazillionth level for a short time.

  3. @Danial - has it been done before? The mutants exposed to terrigin mist thing, not the crazy slashfic, ha.

  4. Yeah, Quicksilver was exposed and became so fast he travelled through time. There have also been a few lesser-knowns as well.

  5. Well, this was intriguing. Not at all how I expected it to be from that title.

  6. Good work Danial. Although I must admit, I thought Gambit was going to be used as a way to bomb the mansion. Still, very intuiguing script.

  7. That's a great story idea, opening up all kinds of possibilities. Of course, the idea that Gambit is the only one safe to save the day annoyed my anti-Gambit side... but I guess if Gambit's powers went haywire... who'd notice?
