Batman Inc. - Peas In A Pod - Danial Carroll

PAGE ONE (five panels)

PANEL 1. Batman and Dick Grayson are standing on a rooftop, looking down. They are watching someone.

DICK:
Should we even be here?

DICK:
It's a little out of our jurisdiction, don't you think?

BATMAN:
That's the whole point of Batman Inc.--to extend our reach as far as possible.

PANEL 2. Close on Dick, looking through binoculars.

DICK:
And you want to recruit this guy?

PANEL 3. Dick is looking at Batman.

DICK:
Don't get me wrong, the guy's got some skills.

DICK:
It's just, he seems a little--I don't know--crazy.

BATMAN:
I've profiled him thoroughly.

PANEL 4. Dick is looking through the binoculars again.

BATMAN (OP):
In fact, he's very much like me.

DICK:
Hey, where did he go?

PANEL 5. Standing behind both Dick and Batman, is Moon Knight. Dick is surprised, while Batman looks to have been expecting it, with a slight grin.

MOON KNIGHT:
Why have you been following me?

BATMAN:
See.

  1. Ha - if I'd thought "What Will Danial Do?" this would have been my answer... luckily I didn't, so this left me with a smile.

I was a little unsure how Dick was dressed here... is he in the Batsuit too... or just in casual gear... or completely naked?

(Ugh, a naked Dick. This isn't that kind of site.)

  2. I'm pretty sure this one came as no surprise to anyone that knows me :)

As for what Dick is wearing, doesn't he have a costume?

  3. At the moment, he's Batman. So is Bruce. Which is why I was confused as the script says "Dick and Batman" rather than "Dick and Bruce". As they're both Batman, it's maybe less confusing to refer to them that way... or perhaps "New Batman" and "Batman Classic". ;-)

  4. Unless otherwise stated, any character I write is wearing their current costume :)

  5. Moon Knight...how did I not see that one coming. :-)

It even makes Grayson's line about them being out of their jurisdiction make sense in the bigger scheme of things.

  6. The description for that last panel is absolutely wonderful. The contrast between Dick's surprise and Bruce's knowing smile is quite fun and a fitting representation of the characters.

  7. Danial - writing Amalgam style crossovers is a cliche trope for fanfic - and yet you handle it here with aplomb. There's subtlety to the dialogue, great use of action in the characters, and it all comes together very well. I'm impressed, old boy, impressed indeed.

  8. Thanks, guys :)

As for the company crossover, Ryan, I just couldn't help myself with this one. No matter where you read about Moon Knight, there's always someone pointing out his similarity to Batman, so it just seemed fitting ;)

  9. Ah Danial - I love this man. So well written. It gave me smiles.
