A little over two year ago I received an email. I’m sure I received many emails, but this one
was significant. Although I did not know
it at the time, this email would change the course of my life forever!
Unfortunately the Prince of Nigeria didn’t hold up his end
of the bargain.
However, under that email was another from a chap whom I had
been annoying on twitter – Mr Ryan K Lindsay.
From memory, Ryan mealy said he wanted to assemble a team of writers for
a project, and was I in. I said
yes...obviously.
Fast forward two and a bit years later, and I am writing as
to why we have chosen Ryan ‘Moneyshot’ Lindsay as our character for this
week. Purely and simply – this site
would not be here without him.
Many of you would not know of the efforts Mr Lindsay puts
into his writing. He works a regular 9-5 (plus some) job, and in the time I have known him he has gotten married, stolen my
daughter’s name and placed it on his son.
He wakes up at 5am every morning to cram in as much writing as
possible. He openly offers advice to
those who ask for it, and works harder for his craft more than any person I
know.
But alas, something had to give. This Why? Is one that I hoped I had never had
to write, but it is one that I had also hoped I would have to.
‘Moneyshot’ is leaving us as he has many exciting projects
coming up – career advancing projects. Projects that have a very high
possibility of propelling him into the comic creator stratosphere, like some
thing that is propelled. Not a propeller
though. If you are not familiar with his
name, you will be soon. Trust me on
that.
So I present to you all, the tenured writer’s send off to
our leader. May he kick all kinds of
ass, and thumb us a couple of bucks as he drives past us on his way to writing
godhood.
Ryan, from ALL of us here at Thought Balloons, both past and
future – thank you for bringing us together.
Thank you for our knowledge and friendship, and thank you for helping us
all become better writers.
And thanks for the protein chain around my neck.
Ben.
P.S – Ryan and I were at a war to see who would be the first
to drop a week at Thought Balloons. As
such, I will not be posting this week so that we may both be losers together.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

MONEYSHOT! |
I am beyond flattered and impressed. If Ben could organise this in his first week as my puppet leader then I think he'll do a great job.
ReplyDeleteFirst person to make me cry with their script gets a NO PRIZE.
But...I'm not writing a script. Dammit, I wanted to make you cry!
ReplyDeleteI like how you've craftily kept me from writing this week as I can't seem that self-obsessed as to do it, ha.
ReplyDeleteBut if you want to, you can write one up, mate. The Quickening is rightfully yours. I'm sure your terrible skills would make me cry :)
