Foggy Nelson - Gut Feeling - Niel Jacoby

Panel 1: Foggy is going over some legal briefs at his desk, which is cluttered with paperwork and empty cola bottles. You can clearly see that it's dead night outside through a window in his apartment.

NO COPY

Inset Panel: Close on Foggy's face as he turns, surprised, to face his door.

SFX: NOK-NOK-NOK

Panel 2: Foggy stands in front of his open door. scared stiff. We don't see the person on the other side of the doorway.

Kingpin: GUTS NELSON.

Panel 3: Foggy is still in the same scared stiff position. The Kingpin's massive hand is patting him on the shoulder. We still don't see him through the doorway, but we can see that his white suit is scuffed and a little torn.

Kingpin: NOBODY FOOLS ME.

Panel 4: We finally see Kingpin through the door, and he is beat up. He's still standing tall, but his suit is not at its best. We can see Turk behind him and 2 other henchmen.

Kingpin: WELL, NOBODY FOOLS ME AND SURVIVES.

Kingpin: FOR LONG.

  1. Heh, that made me smile. You know, it is a bit bizarre given how ruthless Mr Fisk is that he's never sought pay back on good old Foggy. Though, again, given that ruthlessness, I'm rather glad he hasn't.

  2. This one didn't resonate with me I'm afraid. I feel like I'm missing some of the setup or it's making reference to something I haven't read.

    Nice evocation of tension though.

  3. Kingpin is one of my favourite villains, so I got a chill from this. It's the unspoken implications that do it -- what is he planning for Foggy?

    Simple, but effective.

  4. I like the page, but I'm not sure if I'm taking it in the same mood you're trying to create. I see the tension, but that last panel is almost comedic in my view. The "Well, nobody fools me and survives. For long." reads to me as Kingpin making excuses for why he's taken so long to get back at Foggy. I personally enjoy that reading, but I don't feel that it's the one you meant for the page to have.
