This takes place in an alternate universe where Spider-Man saved Gwen, instead of accidentally killing her.
Panel 1: Peter and Gwen are sitting together in Central Park, watching a 4th of July fireworks display. They're both enjoying it, but they've also got something on their minds.
Peter: GWEN-
Gwen: NOT NOW, PETER. I KNOW WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO TALK ABOUT IT, BUT NOT NOW, OK?
Panel 2: We see Gwen and Peter in silhouette from behind as the fireworks burst in the air.
Peter: ALRIGHT.

IT'S A WONDERFUL NIGHT, ISN'T IT, GWEN?
Gwen: YEAH, PETER. JUST GREAT.
I know you specified that this was if Gwen survived, but I believe it works just as well as an "in his mind" moment in the real world, as he comes to terms with his grief...
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's Gwen's magic as a character: she is both a symbol of Pete's great love, as well as a destiny unfulfilled, the great "what could have been".
