Panel 1: We see through a camera as a group of 4 paranormal investigators(think one of those SyFy shows where people walk around an abandoned house in green light) in the Paris Catacombs, with this giant column thing of bones behind them. One of the investigators is talking to the camera.
Investigator 1: WE'RE HERE IN THE PARIS CATACOMBS, WHERE THE REMAINS OF ABOUT 6 MILLION PEOPLE HAVE BEEN STORED SINCE THE LATE 1700S.
Panel 2: Same view through the camera, as the crew pans around the column of bones.
Investigator 1: FOR DECADES, CENTURIES, THERE HAVE BEEN RUMORS OF AN UNEARTHLY PRESENCE IN THE CATACOMBS. A STRANGE BEING, OR BEINGS, THAT HAVE TRIED TO GET THEIR REVENGE ON THE LIVING.
Panel 3: Same view, they've walked a bit further, and the Predator has stuck his face out through one of the holes that a skull would usually be in. Nobody sees this.
Investigator 1: IS THERE ANY TRUTH TO THIS? THAT'S WHAT WE, THE GHOST FINDERS, ARE HERE TO FIND OUT.
There was this "Most Haunted" type TV show back in the 90s (I think), just one episode. Completely staged as a sort of televisual practical joke on the audience; even starred some C-list actors who weren't that famous at the time.
ReplyDeleteIt was set in "Britain's most haunted house", and had a ghost-hunting team and all that. As the episode went on, there was this shadowy figure who kept appearing in the background, getting more and more prominant throughout the show. But for the whole thing, the cast never acknowledged him in any way. Which just made it damn creepy.
You capture that creepiness perfectly here.
That sounds amazing.
DeleteCool setting Niel.
ReplyDeleteThis was creepy and funny at the same time. Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt's that last panel that just absolutely creeps me the hell out. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI can't help but picture Predator as if he were approaching this situation from a trolling mindset. :^b
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he has more sinister intentions, but still.
This is an excellent setup for a horror-based story. Blair Witch Project meets Predator?
