Panel 1: Nick Fury(current Sam Jackson incarnation) and Thunderbolt Ross are in a secret discussion room deep within SHIELD headquarters. Thunderbolt Ross is sitting, Fury is pacing.
Fury: NOW, COULSON DID HIS JOB, AND HE DID IT DAMN WELL. WE'VE GOT A HANDLE ON MOST OF THE AVENGERS.
Ross: EVEN HULK?
Panel 2: Fury has stopped, and is pointing at Ross.
Fury: THAT'S WHAT I CALLED YOU HERE FOR. YOU KNOW HIM, YOU KNOW HOW WE CAN HARNESS HIM.
Ross: YOU KNOW I'VE BEEN TRYING TO TRACK DOWN THAT BIG GREEN MENACE! IF YOU THINK I'M HELPING YOU PLAY NICE WITH THAT... THAT MONSTER, YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR EVER-LOVIN' MIND!
Panel 3: Fury is getting in Ross's grill, and is slamming his fists on the table.
Fury: YEAH, I KNOW THAT, THADDEUS! I ALSO KNOW ABOUT THAT BIG RED SECRET YOU'VE BEEN HIDING, AND IF YOU DON'T HELP US KEEP THE HULK UNDER THE THUMB OF THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT, YOU'LL BE SITTING IN THE HIGHEST-SECURITY PRISON MONEY CAN BUY UNTIL THOSE STARS ON YOUR HELMET BURN OUT AND DIE!
Panel 4: Close shot on Ross, trying to keep up his arrogant facade.
Ross: I...
Panel 5: Same frame, Ross just deflates, gives up.
Ross: I ACCEPT, YOU SON OF A BITCH.
Opening is a good set-up, but I'm of two minds about the ending, esp. in the movie-verse. If this is William Hurt's Ross, it seems to be a good fit, but if it's Sam Elliot, I'd imagine a more smoldering anger, steady gaze type delivery. The fun thing about the films is fitting the dialogue to the actor, and your Sam Jackson Fury is on point.
ReplyDeleteInteresting piece to be sure, sir...
