The following comic
works a lot better if done in comic strip form than comic book form.
(4 Panels)
Panel 1: THE PHANTOM is standing with JOE EVERYMAN (a
generic stand-in.) Next to PHANTOM is
his wolf, DEVIL.
JOE EVERYMAN: Thank you for saving me, Phantom!
PHANTOM: You are welcome, citizen!
DEVIL: Ruff!
Panel 2: PHANTOM punches JOE EVERYMAN with his left
fist.
PHANTOM: I shall now mark you with my seal of protection!
JOE EVERYMAN: UUFH!
Panel 3: PHANTOM leaps off-panel as JOE EVERYMAN
keels over. DEVIL follows PHANTOM off-panel.
PHANTOM: Phantom AWAY!
DEVIL: BARK! BARK!
JOE EVERYMAN: [Angry Grumbling]
Panel 4: JOE EVERYMAN looks in a mirror at the mark
PHANTOM left on him.
JOE EVERYMAN: [Angry Grumbling]

Haha. The other side of the coin to Simon's page for the week. While the rings are rather strange in my mind, the "good" one makes far less sense, as you aptly illustrate here.
ReplyDelete"I shall now mark you with my seal of protection," is a great, incredibly on the nose line. Also, third person self-references are always a good call, so good on ya.
