St. Valentine - Showdown - P. A. Nolte

/ A showdown.  Two men on either side of a long stretch of road.  The frontier town around them has closed down in anticipation.  The antagonist has a woman clutched to him, though she's struggling to free herself.

/ In silhouette, the hanged priest, left dangling and temporarily forgotten.

/ The antagonist holds the girl tighter.  She is terrified.  He holds a gun to her head.  She's managed to get one arm free and reaches out desperately for the other man.

/ Inside one of the buildings, the shopkeeper/bartender is pressed with his back against the wall, peeking out the window, readying his rifle.

/ The gunslinger's hand floats above his holster.  In profile, the simple heart carved crudely into the hilt of his revolver can be seen.
